Johnny Depp Announced The End Of His Short Marriage

Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are divorcing after 15 months of marriage. “Given the brevity of this marriage and the most recent and tragic loss of his mother, Johnny will not respond to any of the salacious false stories, gossip, misinformation and lies about his personal life,” a representative for Depp said on Thursday. “Hopefully the dissolution of this short marriage will be resolved quickly.”

It is unclear which false stories to which the rep is referring, but earlier on Thursday, a source cryptically told People, “Amber did what she had to do to take care of herself.”

Heard reportedly filed for divorce on Monday, just three days after Johnny Depp’s beloved mother Betty Sue Palmer died after battling a long illness.

The couple did not have a prenuptial agreement and Heard requested spousal support. Hours later, Depp had already responded via his lawyer Laura Wasser, asking to reject Heard's request.

The actors met while filming 2011’s The Rum Diary and began dating after Depp split with his partner of 14 years, French singer and actress Vanessa Paradis, with whom he has one daughter, Lily-Rose, and one son, Jack.

Depp and Heard married in February 2015 in an intimate ceremony surrounded by friends and family on Depp’s private island in the Bahamas.
